Hela förskolan läser starts 1 October — goal is 25,000 books
On 1 October this year’s Hela förskolan läser campaign starts in Katrineholm. The reading challenge runs until 30 October and logs must be submitted by 6 November, according to the municipal news item.
Goals and figures
The 2026 goal is 25,000 books. If it is reached, guardians will together pass the cumulative milestone of 100,000 books read since the project began. The municipality writes that the number of books read has increased every year even though preschool cohorts have shrunk — 22,062 books in 2023, 25,763 in 2024 and 29,510 in 2025.
The initiative is about reading together at home and building habits early. The municipality highlights that shared reading strengthens language, imagination and vocabulary and creates valuable family time.
Stina Wirsén at the library
This year the preschools collaborate with Katrineholm Library on an exhibition with author and illustrator Stina Wirsén. While the reading project runs, families can visit the exhibition at the library.
Katrineholm Art Gallery also opens on Sundays because of the reading campaign and Wirsén’s picture-book show: Sundays 4, 11, 18 and 25 October, 10:00–15:00 according to the municipality.
