During October 2026 Katrineholm Municipality is rebuilding the northern section of Hantverkaregatan. The aim is a safer traffic environment and a clearer link between Stortorget, central retail and Stadsparken, according to the municipal news item.

Hantverkaregatan lies in an area that is changing as the travel centre is developed. The municipality expects more people to move along the street, especially children and young people travelling to and from school.

As part of the rebuild the street is regulated as a bicycle street. Cyclists and motor vehicles share the carriageway with cycling as the reference, and the speed limit is 30 km/h. Parking is only allowed in designated spaces, while permitted parking time is extended on Hantverkaregatan.

During construction access may be limited and parking or stopping options may change temporarily. The municipality asks road users to follow signs and instructions from staff on site.

Questions about the project can be directed to head of projects and traffic Johan Ekstrand via the municipal switchboard on 0150-570 00.
