When is the autumn holiday in 2026?
School lets go for a whole week. The autumn holiday in Katrineholm 2026 runs from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October, week 44, for both primary school and upper secondary. The culture school is closed 26 October–1 November, with no lessons on those days.
What to do on the autumn holiday in Katrineholm
The kids are already asking on Sunday evening. Fair question. The autumn holiday mixes a stable, a dance floor and a couple of hours indoors, enough fun without booking every hour. Hip hop at DUD is for anyone who would rather move. The haunted trail in Bie is for after dark. Halloween crafts at Ängeln suit anyone who wants their hands busy. Lokstallet is the stop when the jacket is wet, and an autumn walk covers the hours when you just want to be out among the leaves.
Monday 26 October can start with hooves at Djulö. Katrineholms RF runs dressage at Trolldal, from 08:00 to 17:00, for the green and red group. Lunch is included, and a photo is taken afterwards. The day costs SEK 280. The photo costs SEK 100.
Before you head to Trolldal, call 0150-557 40 or email kansli@katrineholmsrf.se. Sign up for riding sessions. The pool obstacle course is up the same week, 24 October–1 November, but Monday is the wrong day for the water. The hall is closed to the public. That day is club swimming.
Tuesday 27 October is a quieter day. The open art lab is at Kulturhuset Ängeln, Djulögatan 27, 13:30–15:30. It is drop-in, and it is free. Two hours with your hands, in the middle of the day, and nobody has to sign up.
Wednesday 28 October is the day the schedule can fill up, from late morning until dark. Hip hop, riding, a spell outdoors, a musical and a haunted trail. One is enough. If someone at home has the energy, the times can sit one after another where they do not clash.
At Kulturföreningen DUD, Fredsgatan 4–8, the hip-hop try-out runs 12:00–16:00 with Amina Mariam Ndagire. Ages 8–12 dance 12:00–13:15. From age 13 it is 13:30–14:45. It is free, and you do not need to register. The same day the rooms are open for spontaneous dancing, theatre or games, if the session itself is not why you came.
The same Wednesday the stable can win over the dance floor. Katrineholms RF has a stable day at Djulö, Trolldal. It runs 08:00–17:00, with one riding session and lunch, and costs SEK 350. It is the white/green group. Sign up for riding sessions. A whole day among the horses, not an hour squeezed between two other things.
In the middle of Wednesday you can step outside and breathe. Häng med oss ut is 13:30–15:00 at the archery field by Duveholmshallen. It is free, with no registration, and you do not need your own equipment. Dress for the weather. It runs every Wednesday until 25 November, so it is still there when the holiday is over.
Small children who can manage a hall have a musical in the afternoon. Spara & Slösa starts at 16:00 at Safiren on Drottninggatan 19, for ages five and up. Sign up for Spara & Slösa. Double-check the time with the organiser.
After dark, Wednesday changes character. Halloween in Bie is a haunted trail, 17:00–20:00. Children up to 12 go at 17:00–18:30. From age 13 it is 19:00–20:00, so the younger ones are home before the older ones take over. It costs SEK 50 per child, paid on site. Sausages, drinks and sweets are on the programme in Bie.
Thursday 29 October puts the horses at the centre again, this time over fences. Katrineholms RF runs jumping at Djulö, Trolldal. The day runs from 08:00 to 17:00, and the start is at 09:00. The session is open from the white group and up, and it costs SEK 280. Sign up for riding sessions.
If Thursday morning is wet, there is a roof in the middle of town, and engines inside it. Lokstallet at Östermalmsgatan 2 is open 11:00–14:00. You can see historic steam and diesel locomotives and climb into the driver’s cab. Admission is free.
Friday 30 October can be short in the saddle. You can hire a horse at Djulö and ride 08:30–10:30, if a whole day at Trolldal feels long. It costs SEK 150. A parent comes along and is responsible up to age 13. The ride sits inside the day’s session, which runs 08:00–17:00. Sign up for riding sessions. After that the morning is free.
After lunch, Friday slows down. At Ängeln the Halloween crafts run 12:00–14:30. It is drop-in and free, and you do not need to register. The materials are free, so you do not need to pack your own.
The same Friday something else starts, but only if the team is already entered. Mini World Cup U16 runs from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November at Backavallen, Prins Bertils gata 1, 08:00–17:00, with ten teams. It is a cup, not a drop-in. If you are not in a team, this is not your way in. Mini World Cup U16 – team info.
On Saturday 31 October, once the school-holiday weekdays are over, the club meets for the Halloween jumping. The meet is at 08:30 at Djulö. The day runs 08:00–17:00. It costs SEK 210 per start, and you jump from 20 cm. All club members are welcome. It is the club’s own morning.
Free activities during the autumn holiday
The wallet does not have to run the whole week. Free activities during the autumn holiday are there for anyone who wants to dance, make something or just step inside. The hip hop on Wednesday 28 October needs no registration. The Halloween crafts on Friday 30 October need no registration either, and the materials are free. Häng med oss ut needs no registration. Open house at Lokstallet is free. The art lab on Tuesday 27 October is free too.
The riding sessions have a price. You saw that. The pool charges a day ticket. If you are missing gear at home, Fritidsbanken lends sports and outdoor equipment free for 14 days.
Indoors, and if it rains
Indoors is the rescue when the rain hits the window and the wellies are already wet. Hip hop at DUD, crafts and the art lab at Ängeln, the musical at Safiren, and Lokstallet are inside. The pool in Duveholmshallen, Västgötagatan 39, has an obstacle course 24 October–1 November, if the water tempts you more than a craft table. On Mondays the hall is closed to the public.
On a properly wet day the library, bowling or the cinema can be the answer. Times and tips are in the rainy-day guide.
Outdoors and nature
A stream lined with autumn trees.
Leaves and autumn weather belong to this week. That is half the point, if the jacket is right. Outdoors you can join the session at the archery field, walk the trail in Bie in the evening, or ride at Djulö, Trolldal.
If the diary has a gap, an autumn walk is a perfectly good plan. Playgrounds, barbecue spots and trails are on the municipality nature map.
Autumn holiday for children in Katrineholm
A playground in autumn colours.
The youngest do not have to come along to jumping practice. The musical Spara & Slösa suits ages from five. The Bie trail for children up to 12 runs 17:00–18:30 and costs SEK 50 per child, earlier in the evening than the older round. When you hire a horse, a parent comes along up to age 13. The culture school has no lessons 26 October–1 November. The Halloween crafts at Ängeln are drop-in, a quiet way in if a five-year-old does not want the stable.
Autumn holiday for teenagers
Teenagers who would rather dance than sit at a craft table have their own session in the middle of the week. Hip hop from age 13 is 13:30–14:45 on Wednesday 28 October, at DUD. Perrongen is there for anyone who has started year 7, up to age 18, Tuesday–Saturday 16:00–21:00 at Östermalmsgatan 2. Mini World Cup U16 is a cup for entered teams, Friday to Sunday at Backavallen. If the team is not entered, it is not something you drop in on.
Halloween in Katrineholm
Halloween in Katrineholm during the holiday holds both darkness and a craft table. The trail in Bie is on Wednesday 28 October. The crafts at Ängeln are on Friday 30 October. The Halloween jumping on Saturday 31 October is for members of Katrineholms RF, the club’s own morning, not an open Halloween for anyone just passing by.
If you want more Halloween than the holiday week can hold, there is a day trip in the Halloween guide.
Food and fika
Hunger sorts itself out differently depending on the day. The dressage day includes lunch, and the photo costs extra. The stable day includes lunch too, so Wednesday in the stable has a meal in the middle of the day. Sausages, drinks and sweets are on the programme in Bie.
If you need a fika between sessions, Kulturhuset Ängeln has a café. Double-check the time with the organiser. For a meal in town, see Eat and drink.
Library, swimming and opening hours
The pool in Duveholmshallen has these hours, so the swim bag is not packed on the wrong day. On Monday it is closed to the public. That day is club swimming. Tuesday 06:15–20:00, Wednesday 08:30–20:00, Thursday 06:15–20:00, Friday 08:30–20:00, Saturday and Sunday 08:30–16:00.
Day ticket 2026: children aged 0–7 SEK 20, youth 8–17 SEK 55, adults SEK 80. The obstacle course from 24 October to 1 November uses the same price, so the course costs no more than an ordinary day ticket.
Perrongen is open Tuesday–Saturday 16:00–21:00. Fritidsbanken: Monday 10:00–18:00, Tuesday 10:00–15:30, Wednesday 10:00–15:30, Thursday 10:00–18:00, Friday 10:00–15:30. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday they close at 15:30. On Monday and Thursday they stay open until 18:00.
MerÖppet at Kulturhuset Ängeln is temporarily closed because of roadworks outside the entrance. Staffed library hours are in the library timetable. Ängeln is at Djulögatan 27, phone 0150-576 30.
