Djulö wetland opens 5 September — what the new nature site will offer
At Djulö allé/Laxmans väg in Katrineholm a new wetland is taking shape. The municipality describes the project as both stormwater climate adaptation and a future outdoor destination — with an inauguration on Saturday 5 September 2026, 11:00–16:00.
What the site is for
According to the municipal project page, the wetland should delay and filter urban runoff before water reaches Lake Djulö. It is also planned as a recreation area for walking and birdwatching, with boardwalks, docks, viewpoints and information signs. Work is still ongoing; the municipality updates the project page as the build progresses.
Opening day 5 September
The inauguration is organised by Katrineholm Municipality. The event page lists the venue as Djulö wetland at Djulö allé/Laxmans väg, free of charge with no advance registration. The municipality writes that there will be activities for different ages with nature in focus, but that the programme will be added during the summer — follow the municipal event page or the Facebook event before you go if you want the latest details.
